Album

See What You Started by Continuing is the ninth studio album by American rock band Collective Soul. It was released on October 2, 2015 by Vanguard Records. The album represents a return to the classic guitar-driven rock sound that the band were known for during the 1990s. Recording began in 2014, with newcomers Johnny Rabb and Jesse Triplett joining longtime members Ed Roland, Dean Roland and Will Turpin in the studio to create the band's first album since 2009. It became the number-one alternative. It's hard not to see the title of See What You Started by Continuing as a bit of a jab at Collective Soul themselves. Twenty-two years and nine albums deep into their career, the alt-rock-era band has neither burned out nor faded away - they've merely persisted, putting out records at a steady clip that only slowed in the 2010s, when they took six years to succeed 2009's Collective Soul with this record. Collective Soul recorded See What You Started - the band's first album with drummer Johnny Rabb, who joined in 2012, and guitarist Jesse Triplett, who came on board last year - in Roland's home studio in Sandy Springs, Ga. The group was touring Thursday through Sunday and would come in to record the other days. Collective Soul kicks off its tour to support the album on Sept. 29, with dates booked until Nov. 28 and plans for more after that. Collective Soul sound refreshed and reinvigorated with a set that stays true to who they are. When the group's best album, 2000's Blender, was released, they experienced an unwarranted amount of vitriol from their fan base because nobody got the joke that they were actually spoofing the boy-band era with narcissistic cover art and not merely adhering to it. It's a special kind of special when a group tricks their fans into lashing out at them. Maybe that's why each time you listen to See What You Started By Continuing, it becomes harder to poke holes in it. At a crisp 11 tracks, these songs hit you over the head without apology
