A groundbreaking album. Very experimental for the time of its release and way ahead of its time. This must be among the first electronic albums. Bowie and Brian Eno were experimenting with different ways of composing songs, miles away from contemporary rock and pop. The sound throughout the album is pretty cold and unpersonal and the song titles are weird. Just take a look at "Always Crashing In The Same Car". Strangely enough the album even contained a hit single. "Sound And Vision" was received completely different by people. While to some it is cold and unpersonal, for others it is uplifting.
Although Bowie is a wonderful innovator, LOW is nowhere near "among the first of the electronic albums". As always, Bowie picked up on trends elsewhere and magnified them, adding his own slant. Eno had already done stuff like this alone and Kraftwerk's electronic LP 'Autobahn' (among many others) predates LOW by several years.
Jeronashe
It's gatefold, like europe 1991 version .. . .
Ximathewi
Just got this Australian pressing recently. Pretty thin and light record but it sounds great on my system.
NiceOne
wrong fan club leaflet, this one originally came with Heroes
Lesesshe
you can handle your copy very careful, after a while it sounds used, surface noise cover an amazing sound !
Gavinranadar
You can have this pressing on the cheapest needle, the cheapest turntable, the cheapest speakers, and it will still sound amazing.Incredible pressing, thick, rich, and crisp.
Kuve
Is this full analog? I'm always skeptical of modern remasters.
SiIеnt
Stunning. This is what people want from a reissue - proper remastering and nice thick 180g vinyl.
Ganthisc
Can’t stand the orange label with the “BOWIE” writing.. it’s awful..Parlophone should ask/pay Sony to allow a beautiful RCA label
Rleyistr
I have mixed feelings : it's very different from my previous experience with this album. It's very bass heavy, sometimes even too much. The synthetic "ticklinnes" of the original mastering is nonexistent : you really have to love this overly warm and flat sound, because that's what you get with these recent reissues.I'm not sure if it was a real intention : Visconti or not, it's a radical departure from the trademark sound (and quite a shocking one to be honest).
Detenta
Well, I also have a 1980 UK reissue which sounds on the colder, wider side. Very close to the 1999 CD actually. This remaster sounds drastically different.
Rocky Basilisk
Was your previous experience with the 1999 remastered CD? I'm asking because I just acquired an original 77 vinyl copy and my impression is the same. The CD has a much more crisp and cold sound.
Bradeya
Awesome quality. Sound is perfect, packaging is just wow. I've never heard the original pressing, but I think this one is really worth buying.
Nicanagy
i ve never heard the original pressing but this sounds really amazing.....Warszawa is a masterpiece.....
Chankane
Sound is fantastic on this new edition. Warsaw is a masterpiece !
misery
Sounded great until about half way through side 1 - Sound & Vision sounds terrible! Seriously flawed pressing or mastering... hopefully a replacement LP will be better - I love this album
one life
I exchanged for a new copy and it sounds great!
Kearanny
Hope you did a proper wet washing. I know mine was pretty filthy with dust and white debris. Paper or fuzz or some kind of junk. All records, including brand new, need a washing. Stylus gets cleaned before each album also. My apologies if you did the same sort of thing already.
Xor
my sound and vision sounds fine, must be your copy
Lonesome Orange Kid
Does anyone know if this is a DIFFERENT pressing than the LP of Low found in boxed set A New Career In A New Town?
Zargelynd
This one sounds really good. Its the best sounding out of the recent Bowie reissues imo. Nice stereo separation with exceptional clarity. Nice deep bass tones and rich guitar. Synths and sax really cut too. Really good presence on Bowie's vocals. Nice dynamics, nice sounding drums, nothing sounds muddy, nice detail. Pressed dead quiet with no apparent flaws. Stoked on this one.
რฉςh
Great sounding vinyl. Have wanted an original since I started collecting, but this is as close I may ever get. Highly recommended.
Adokelv
An original in decent shape is not that hard to come by.
Beazekelv
Sounds awesome. Great 180 gram remastered version of a classic.
Kahavor
This pressing sound wonderful and thankfully doesn't have any surface noise. Happy to finally upgrade my worn original copy of this record without breaking the bank.
Oparae
Wow this reissue is excellent! I have the original record as well as the Rykodisc cd and this new Parlophone is better than both by quite a lot. Great dynamics. Absolutely perfect pressing and nice packaging - even a very high quality sleeve. Definitely recommended!
